RFA Announces dates for “Bye Bye Birdie” 1st Night
Feeling Cabin-feverish? Winter doldrums got you down? Then this news is for you! Rangeley Friends of the Arts will be bringing a brand new production of the perennial Broadway favorite,”Bye Bye Birdie,” to the Lakeside Theater for three performances only – March 15th, 16th and 17th at 7:00pm Friday and Saturday and 2:00pm Sunday. RFA’s production team and Director Erin Smith have assembled a fantastic cast of over 25 area teen and adult actors, singers and dancers, and rehearsals are now in full swing.
Written by Lee Adams, Michael Stewart and Charles Strouse in 1960, and based loosely on the story of Elvis Presley’s send off to the Army, “Bye Bye Birdie” won the Tony Award for Best Musical and ran for 607 performances on Broadway before going to a national tour and a successful London run. The show has had unprecedented success in thousands of productions by schools and community theater companies all over America and in many other countries as well. So, mark you calendars now, and don’t miss this delightfully funny and romantic show. It will have you singing and dancing your way out of the theater and all the way home!
