Plein Air Combined Watercolor/Oil Painting Workshop w/Michael Vermette

July 13 - July 17

THE ARTIST’S TRAIL: PLEIN AIR RANGELEY

July 13-17, 2026

$275 – Lodging and meals extra

Come join a group of oil and watercolor painters this summer, who will be making painterly sketches en plein air at two different locations per day on the famed Artist’s Trail. Participants are encouraged to paint with the instructor who will demonstrate and paint in oil and watercolor mediums on location. Michael will offer group critiques, present visual aids to highlight painterly approaches in both mediums, and offer pointers on location through visits with painters. The workshop will cover capturing the light of the landscape, the weight of form, the use of color, creating effective texture and atmospheric depth, and making spontaneous brush and palette knife lines and marks that create a reasonable facsimile of the landscape subject. Award winning painter, Nora West, who will also be painting with participants, will be this year’s instructor assistant. She will provide help with schedules, lesson plans, and logistics so that the workshop will run more smoothly.
Become an action painter this summer! Capture the landscape with the immediacy that brings Rangeley’s Lakes, Rivers and Mountains to life.
