Wildlife Photography Show & Talk 2016
Friday, August 5, 2016, 7 PM
Exclusively Sponsored by the Westerhoff Family Foundation.
For the fifth consecutive year, the Rangeley Friends of the Arts will present an hour long narrated slide show, “THE MAGNIFICENT ROCKIES: CAPTURED MOMENTS,” by Gary Westerhoff. The show will be on the large movie screen at the Lakeside Theater on Main Street in Rangeley, Maine, at 7 PM on Friday, August 5, 2016. Gary is a professional environmental engineer, fly fisherman and nature photographer and has been a summer visitor to the Rangeley area for more than 45 years. He and his wife, Helga, have a house on Rangeley Lake.
This year’s show will feature images taken by Gary in the Rocky Mountains in western United States and Canada over the past two decades during numerous adventuring, fly fishing and photography trips. The images capture majestic scenes of snow capped mountains, forests, lakes and rivers, along with intimate images of varied wildlife. Most of the photographs were taken during early morning and evening hours over all four seasons.
Along with fly fishing scenes in magnificent settings are the intimate and emotional portrayals of elk, black bear, moose, mountain lions, deer, wolves, coyotes, fox and other animals and birds of prey. Many of Gary’s images have won awards in judged nature competitions and have been published in his numerous nature books.
Admission to the show is free and light refreshments will be served after the presentation. However the Rangeley Friends of the Arts will graciously accept donations to support their local programs. All attendees are entered into a drawing, with the winner receiving an autographed copy of one of Gary’s wildlife books.
